K-Unpacked is an independent blog. This page explains how we research, write, correct, and fund our content, so readers know exactly what they’re getting.
1. Independence
K-Unpacked has no financial or contractual ties to any Korean entertainment agency, studio, broadcaster, streaming platform, or public relations firm. We are not paid by any artist, show, or company to write about them, and no outside party reviews or approves our posts before publication. Every opinion, ranking, and piece of analysis on this site reflects our own honest view.
2. How We Research and Fact-Check
Before anything gets published, each post goes through a fact-checking pass. Names, dates, award records, viewership figures, and box office numbers are checked against primary or well-established sources, including:
- Official Netflix newsroom pages, Top 10 pages, and Engagement Reports
- KOFIC (Korean Film Council) box office data
- Broadcaster-published ratings (Nielsen Korea, TNMS)
- Established entertainment news outlets such as Soompi and Korea JoongAng Daily
- Wikipedia, used as a starting point and cross-checked against the sources above, not relied on alone
When Netflix or another source measures a figure differently across shows (for example, a “first 28 days” record versus a “first half of the year” engagement total), we label exactly what is being measured next to the number instead of presenting incompatible figures as if they were the same thing. If we can’t confirm a claim, we either say so directly in the post or leave it out.
3. Corrections
We make mistakes sometimes, and we would rather fix them than pretend we don’t. If a factual error is found in a published post:
- We correct it directly in the post as soon as we can verify the correction.
- For a significant factual correction (a wrong statistic, a wrong record claim, a wrong name), we note the change at the bottom of the affected post along with the date it was corrected.
- Minor edits, such as typo fixes or clarity improvements, are made without a formal correction note.
Spotted something wrong? Let us know and we’ll look into it.
4. Images
All illustrations on K-Unpacked are AI-generated original artwork rather than photographs or promotional stills. See our About page for more on why we do this. No copyrighted photography from any studio, agency, or news outlet is used on this site.
5. Advertising and Affiliate Content
This site may display third-party advertising through Google AdSense, as described in our Privacy Policy. Advertisements are served by Google and its partners, not selected or endorsed by K-Unpacked, and are kept visually separate from our editorial content. If K-Unpacked ever runs affiliate links or sponsored content in the future, they will be clearly labeled as such within the post.
6. Spoiler Policy
Any post that discusses plot details beyond the first episode or so is clearly labeled with a spoiler warning before the relevant section. We take this seriously, since a big part of why people read K-Unpacked is to decide whether to watch something spoiler-free.
